We would like to hold ICOTOM19 as a virtual conference to supply substantial field with not only excellent presentations but also active discussions.
The conference comprises on-time plenary presentations and on-demand other presentations. It is very difficult to find an appropriate time zone for all of participants in all of countries. The most feasible time zone may be 21:00-24:00, JST (or 12:00-15:00, UTC) for all participants. We think the best way to hold on-time plenary session and discussion sessions covering keynote and oral presentations in our meeting. This type of conference was successfully adopted in this October at an international conference on aluminum alloys, France.
On-time plenary presentations
We would like to plan two plenary presentations in on-time session by using web meeting system Zoom. One of suitable time zone is 21:00-22:00, JST, which is 7:00-8:00am for East coast, US and 1:00-2:00pm for Belgium. The presentation time for plenary is approximately 40 minutes.
On-demand keynote and oral presentations
All the keynote and oral presentations will be prepared as on-demand video
presentations. They will be assigned in each session of the similar topics.
During the discussion session in the conference week, participants can
ask questions to speakers. In order to have active discussion session,
a session chair and speakers are advised to watch all the video presentations
belonging to their session before the conference week. On each video presentation
page, you can write comments for the presentation. Discussion by using
the text comments is also welcome. Hence, we ask each speaker to check
the comments on his/her presentation page, at least during the conference
week. The video presentation should be prepared in mp4 format. Please see
the links below how to prepare mp4 file by PowerPoint. The submission deadline
is 5th of February. The presentation time for keynote and oral is approximately
30 and 15 minutes, respectively.

We will also apply a similar system to the on-demand presentations for poster session. Participants can see posters with short presentation audio and write comments and questions on the conference web site. We are planning to give the "Poster Presentation Award" for young scientists who give excellent presentations. Award winners will be selected through fair judges by professors and experienced researchers. The video presentation should be prepared in mp4 format. About the discussion session
The discussion sessions will be held using Zoom Meetings. Please make sure that Zoom application is installed on your computer. Each session will have a session chair, presenters and attendees. The session chair is present to manage the session. The presenting authors of keynote and oral presentations are requested to join the session with their presentation slides to answer questions from attendees. The attendees put "QUESTION" in the zoom chat box if they have a question. After it is picked up by the session chair, then they ask a question.
